The Pirate Life Blog

A pirate’s life…

Let’s get the history right. The Truth be told here. Everyone loves pirates, at least the pirates in film and literature from the 17th and 18th centuries. But how many of you really know about their true lives or how they actually lived. Even if you have read about them, there is a good chance that what you read was incorrect. The facts and stories recorded about them are quite often just plain wrong. I once saw a documentary on TV entitled, “Where did Henry Morgan the pirate bury his treasure?” Well, Henry Morgan was a privateer, he held the title “Admiral of the Seas,” he owned three plantations on Jamaica, and he eventually became the Governor of Jamaica. He probably buried his treasure in the BANK. How could those historians get it so wrong? Decades of reading inaccurate accounts and watching dreadful documentaries propelled me to write a book which sets the story strait. “A Pirate’s Life in the Golden Age of Piracy” is not just a book for pirate enthusiast, it’s a work written for anyone interested in knowing the truth about 17th and 18th century history.
