Robert Jacob offers a series of engaging, entertaining, and fact-filled presentations on a wide variety of topics. Each is extensively researched, evidence-based, and presented in an easy-to-understand format followed by a question-answer session.
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Robert’s life had been devoted to education. He earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Duquesne University and completed his master’s degree at Virginia Commonwealth University. After teaching in the public school system for five years, he entered the US Marine Corps, where he served for 31 years. During many of those years, he was assigned as a military occupational specialty instructor. Eventually, Robert earned the prestigious designation of Master Training Specialist. Later in his career, he became the Commanding Officer of the Marine Detachment at the same school where he had been an instructor.
With a passion for history, Robert is an award-winning author of three books that focus on giving the reader a true and accurate account of the Golden Age of Piracy. His passion doesn’t stop with his books. The renowned author’s engaging presentations and book-signing events are sought after by community organizations, festivals, libraries, and museums nationwide. Locally, Robert is a regular presenter at the Tampa Bay History Center, Saint Petersburg Museum of History, the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Academia Hernando, and multiple conferences and organizational meetings. He also appeared on the History Channel series Beyond Oak Island.
Within the literary world, Robert has been on the Board of Directors of the Florida Authors and Publishers Association (FAPA) since 2020 and served as president from 2022 to 2024. He has presented at numerous local writers’ groups as well as a presentation on researching your book for accuracy at the Jacksonville Book Festival in 2023. He has also done classes for instructors and lecturers on how to effectively prepare PowerPoints. Each presentation is uniquely designed to meet the specific needs of the organization where it will be given.
